Hannah starts us off with the Urban Legend of “The Babysitter and the Man Upstairs.” Creepy, right? Don’t worry, it gets worse. The main case of the episode is the murder of Janett Christman (the titular babysitter), who was just 13 years old at the time of her death. This was not a great time for Columbia, Missouri. Just 4 years earlier, 20-year-old Marylou Jenkins was slain while alone in her home. In Marylou’s case, 35-year-old Floyd Jenkins was convicted and executed for her murder, although he definitely wasn’t mentally fit to stand trial and the TCT hosts do not think he was the culprit. For our science buffs, Hannah tells us about cynanide gas, histotoxic hypoxia, and oxidative phosphorylation and then wraps it up with a totally unsatisfying conclusion to Janett’s case.

It’s Aquarius season, so we are solidly in Aquarius Corner at the moment (with occasional excursions to Cat Problems Corner). On Monday, 1/24, Mars enters Capricorn and will chill there until March 6. Mars is exalted in Capricorn so we love to see it. Mars is the planet of action, aggression, and sex. We’re transitioning from the wild and free energy of Sagittarius to the get-shit-done energy of Capricorn. Let’s all dive into the our endless To-Do lists and start crossing some things off! However, remember that you are not your job (the great resignation, am I right?), so take time for self care to keep yourself running smoothly and efficiently.

Food Pairing: Floyd’s last meal was T-bone steak, french fries, scalloped corn, cream gravy, bread, butter, cake, and coffee. If someone knows what scalloped corn is, let us know, but in the meantime, we will continue to imagine that it is delicious.
